harvest 58

Well, few years back, I think it was back in 2007 or so, I was commissioned to do this piece:

Fast forward to October of this year, I was requested for revision of the same character, and as of today I got around to drawing her again.

That is all.

  2. Very cool to see how much your approach has changed. I was wondering if you might post some of your old paintings from when you were using painter and discuss some of the differences between what you were doing back then and how you would tackle the picture differently if you were doing it now?

Well, I don't need to do a full post to explain what changed. I'll just list them here.

Overall, I now know how to do composition, body flows and color better, and most importantly, I know what needs to be painted and what doesn't.

All these improvements in knowledge has been acquired by concentrating on lineart exclusively for some time - which allowed me to understand what constitutes a good, natural flow in a piece, minimalistic way.

Also the fact I adjusted my tablet sensitivity towards 'firm' also helps with the more 'sfumato-esque' style I've adopted in recent months, which is demonstrated in past 2 pieces (quickies)

    That's about it.

  7. The updated character portrait turned out great! I had some comments on the big thighs and hips, but I kindly explained that I knew when I was commissioning you that big legs are part of the deal! It's been part of your style as far as I can remember.

A key part of this work is the excellent lightning, which really brings it to life. The post and moving skirt also give it more of a sense of movement and life. :)

  8. Comments deleted due to moderation request. No hard feelings.

I suppose if certain matters are to be resolved, it's better done in a place appropriate for such.
